First and foremost, every rescue mission I take on in my life, is because of this little bird right here. His name was King Reginald I and he was the light of my life. Abandoned by his parents and left to die, I saved him from the shed in my backyard. I sadly, couldn’t rescue his sibling. Reggie lived for three wonderful but tragically short months. He was sick, and at the time, I had no idea anyone in the area would treat pigeons, I was told they would be euthanized, so I did the best I could with what I knew and could find on the internet. Canker took my baby in the end, but his legacy will live on through every other little pigeon I save.
I love you Reggie 🌈 🕊️
The silence Reggie left behind needed to be filled so I took to Facebook to find a new little one to save. Enter,King Rupert I. I was hesitant at first, because Rupert is special needs. He was born with a club foot, and improper nesting gave him a splay leg, but seeing him all helpless and needing somewhere to go, I brought him home. He is now living on my bed, but most of the time, he’s in my lap or my hand,

A short while later, Fate (and a cruel neighbor) brought us Nemo. He was shot in the wing by an air rifle and luckily landed in our yard. My dog and I found him and brought him inside. By this time, I was more knowledgeable and through the person from whom I adopted Rupert, we now had a vet. Nemo unfortunately can never fly again, but he lives a happy life with Rupert and I in my room. He’s usually in trouble because he doesn’t know how to leave the ladies alone and picks on everyone.
This is Tony. He also suffered from a gunshot wound, but his wing survived. Unfortunately, he can’t fly either. He’s now a proud dad and a good husband, defending his family from the evil peckings of Nemo, who lusts after Mimi, Tony’s wife and is trying to assert his dominance by attacking their babies. It’s a rough job to referee pigeons.

Mimi is our only resident hen, and she’s Tony’s wife and mother to two beautiful babies. We don’t know how she injured her wing, but she’s happy here with our little band of flightless birds. Her two babies are still very shy and stick close to the nest, and being as I would like for them to be free to roam with our backyard flock, I’ve intervened very little. I will be updating this post with their pictures as soon as they come out of the nest.
Our latest addition is Pinky Pie! S/he was kicked out of the nest by the sibling and I found Pinky dangling off the perch gasping for air and starving. I tried a few times to put them back in the nest but sibling kicked the baby right out again. This little one now has a nest on my night table and is spoiled rotten. Rupert is apprehensive at best, and Pinky doesn’t really care about anything that isn’t food.

Here we have Raina, my first-born. She’s Boston Terrier Beagle mix, and she’s the light of our lives here at Mistwood. She’s a good guard dog, she’s an excellent peace-maker, always breaking up fights, but she sometimes forgets she’s a dog and acts like a cat. Oh, she loves cats. Not so much other dogs. Oh, and she loves to lick me. I don’t know what it is.
This is my soul-dog Lisa. She’s currently staying with her dad (my ex-husband), because there’s not enough room at my home, yet. She’s the reason I am working so hard to get a home, so that we can be together again. She’s very fluffy, very affectionate, and loves to mark me with her hair and bite my chin.

This is my guinea pig, Galadriel. Although I should have named her Denethor the way she devours cherry tomatoes. She is a big drama queen and if you are but one second late with her dinner or you forget to replace her hay, she will wheek like her life depended on it. Which, it might?
And these are all my animals! Every penny I make through every sale in my shop goes to these babies. Each one is rescued with the utmost care and compassion, and all of them live very happy, spoiled lives with me.
